A Poem

The lashing rain, the raging storm

has flattened down the ripened corn,

uprooted trees and flooded fields

ruined the crops the farmer yields.

Darkened skies pass overhead

lightning strikes at our homestead

teaming rain pours down like lead

the thunder rolls and the cattle have fled.
