Cycling Self-Assessment

The self-assessment deadline approaches once again. Unlike most of the population, the older sprinter’s allowance decreases and his body is taxed a little more with each passing year.

There are only a certain amount of heartbeats, watts and calories that can be spent in any twelve months. Too much extravagant expenditure and there will be a lengthy investigation, which, whether it be conducted by WADA or by Nature herself, is an unpleasant experience

Creative accounting in the form of constructive recovery time and new kit (necessary expenses); and offshore havens in the guise of cycling trips abroad can ease the pain and extent of payment.

Most importantly, the payment should be made on time, as the penalty for tardiness equals the cost of six months post-ride coffee and cake. That’s a fine that no cyclist can afford.
